The Lady Dinos volleyball squad got going at the 3A State Championships early on Tuesday morning. Falling into the consolation round after a loss to Delta, they beat Manti to put them on the path to play for 6th or 8th place. Tuesday morning, they faced the No. 9 team, Juab, and claimed a straight-set win, 25-22 and 25-17. That win propelled them to the 6th- and 8th-place contest against No. 10 Logan, where they collected a 25-23 and 25-19 win to close out the season.

Carbon opened play on Monday against No. 4 Delta, losing 25-19, 26-24, and 25-19, dropping them into the consolation bracket, where they faced No. 12 Manti in their final match of the day.  Tuesday started off with the No. 9 Juab Wasps at 9:00 a.m..

Carbon and Juab had squared off in the opening game of the season on August 12 in Price, where the Lady Dinos earned a 3-2 win over the Wasps. This game, even though it was only a best-of-three, had all the same fireworks and intensity.

In the opening set, it looked as though Carbon was going to run away with it, as Carbon jumped out to a 5-0 lead. From there, the Wasps would slowly climb back into the first set, but the Lady Dinos held on for the 25-22 win. In set two, the Wasps kept things close, but Carbon started to pull away, taking the lead 16-11 and never looking back, as they took a 25-27 set victory and the match 2-0.

With the win, Carbon advanced to take on the No. 14 Logan Grizzlies. Logan advanced to the 6th and 8th place game with a two-set victory over Layton Christian Academy, 25-17 and 25-18.

In the opening set, both teams came out looking to win their final game of the season. Carbon would come out firing on all cylinders to take an early lead, but the Grizzlies came fighting back, and Carbon was able to hold them off to get a 25-23 win.  In the second set, the Lady Dinos were in complete control, taking the lead and then holding off Logan to earn the 25-19 set win and the 2-0 match win to finish the season in sixth place.

This ends the season for the Lady Dinos, who went 9-22 overall and 2-6 in Region 13 play, earning the No. 13 ranking in the final poll of the year, and finishing sixth at the 3A State Championships.
