
The 3A State Championships for cross country were held at Sugarhouse Park on Wednesday, and after a season of battling back and forth with Carbon, the Lady Spartans are the 2025 State Champions, scoring 71 points to edge the Dinos by two points. In the boys’ division, the Spartans finished 12th.
Emery hasn’t won a State Championship in cross country since 2020, when the boys brought it home. This is the first cross-country Championship for the Lady Spartans.
Defending champion Carbon finished in second place behind Emery with 73 points. Canyon View (83), Ogden (110), and Richfield (114) rounded out the top five in a field of 13 schools.
Gentry Christiansen finished in third with her time of 18:02.02. Addyson Guymon was right behind her in fourth, and Addie Hurst earned a top ten finish in ninth. Skylee Guymon finished 15th, Alivia Daley took 40th, and Hannah Farley rounded out the field of Lady Spartans in 59th place, competing against 93 runners.
In the boys division, Richfield claimed the top spot with 58 points, and Carbon came in second, scoring 110. Grantsville (109), Logan (116), and Manti (125) comprised the top five. The Spartans finished in 12th place out of 15 teams.
Zander Robinson was the top finisher for Emery, coming in 50th, followed by Ty Christiansen in 56th. Landon Braun (71), Daxton Larsen (72), Porter Stilson (84), Luke Jensen (85), and Ryder Christiansen (88) all competed for the Spartans in a field of 104 runners.
