Rozlyn Stowe ended her high school cross-country career with her third individual State Championship in four years at the 3A State Championships at Sugarhouse Park on Wednesday. Her time of 17:12.67 was more than 50 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Stowe also helped her girls’ team finish in second place overall, along with the boys’ team.

Stowe, a senior, earned her first championship as a freshman, turning in a time of 18:17.1. She followed that up in her sophomore season with a time of 17.45.4. In her junior campaign, she settled for third place with a time of 17:57.9. Her time of 17:12.67 put her well ahead of second-place Avery Barton of Ogden and her time of 17:57.31.

Emery took the top spot in the girls’ division, scoring 71 points; Carbon claimed second with 73. Canyon View (83), Ogden (110), and Richfield (114)rounded out the top five in a field of 13 schools.

Behind Stowe, Josie Yate claimed fifth, Brettlee Kennedy took 20th, Allie Bryner 23rd, and Kiley Bishoff 24th, rounded out the scoring five for the Lady Dinos. Kaylee Pitcher (36) and Alexa Jones (52) rounded out the Carbon team, who faced 93 runners.

Richfield finished atop the boys’ division with 59 points. Carbon claimed second with 103. Grantsville (109), Logan (116), and Manti (125) made up the top five in the field of 15 schools.

Matthew Stromness was the highest finisher for the Dinos at 16th, and Dallin Humes was right behind in 17th. Evan Criddle (19), Samuel Wilson (20), Bracken Hanson (31), and Seth Jenson (37) all competed for Carbon in a field of 104 runners.
