Jean (Marjorie) Murray Jones, a woman whose life was a testament to pure love and selflessness, returned to her heavenly home and the loving embrace of her eternal companion on October 28, 2025. Born on January 2, 1934, to Ambrose and Ruth Virgina Richardson Murray in Spring Glen, Utah, Jean entered the world as one-half of a beautiful pair, a twin to her sister, Ginny. She spent a rich childhood surrounded by many family members in the close-knit Spring Glen community and Richardson family.
While visiting her best friend, Daisy, Jean was introduced to the man who would become her soulmate, Peter “Pete” Pleasant Jones from Huntington, Utah. Their love story led them to be sealed for time and all eternity on February 13, 1951, in the Manti Temple. Though Jean and Pete were unable to have children biologically, their hearts and home were boundless. They opened their lives to joy by adopting seven children and fostering several others, creating a large, loving family.
Jean’s main priority and greatest joy in life was being the best mother, wife, and grandma, a role in which she truly exceeded all expectations. She cherished time spent camping, filling their home with music from the piano, lovingly sewing, and traveling to visit family members. A dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jean served faithfully in many church positions. She possessed a strong and unwavering testimony and love of Jesus Christ and was always eager to share it with others. She will always be remembered for her loving creations, including countless grandkids’ Halloween costumes, baby blessing outfits, quilts, Raggedy Ann Dolls, and Care Bears. She was also famously known for always having a comforting bag of M&Ms and the original chapstick on her person at all times! Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit touched every life she encountered.
Jean was welcomed with loving arms into the Celestial Kingdom by her beloved husband, Peter Jones; twin sister, Ginny Murray; three daughters, Edna Jean Jones, Susan Keith, and Korin Johnson; granddaughter, Sheree Grant; great-grandson, Kyle Peter McEvoy; and son-in-law, Butch Grant.
She is survived by her devoted children: Peter M. (Staci) Jones of Minersville, UT; Tammy (Jan) Curtis of Elmo, UT; Sherie Grant, and Benjamin A. (Sharon) Jones, both of Price; Mark Johnson of Richmond, UT; along with 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and a wide community of friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Connie Gayler and Sandy McArthur for their dedicated in-home living assistance, and the compassionate staff at Park Dale Care Center.
