Each year, to help celebrate the holiday season, Active Re-Entry hosts its See’s Candy fundraiser, allowing citizens to get a sweet treat while supporting the organization’s many services.
Chris Haycock and Derek Jensen from Active Re-Entry joined the KOAL newsroom to discuss the fundraiser and its benefits for the program.
“This is going to benefit every program that we have,” explained Jensen. “It’s going to be an allover blanket for everything that’s going to benefit our consumers. It’s going to help us with the transportation that we offer. It’s going to benefit our consumers so we can continue doing the activities and doing the programs that we run at Active Re-Entry.”
Haycock added,” The best way to support this is to order candy. On our flyer, we have a QR code you can scan that takes you directly to our Active Re-Entry storefront. Choose the candies you want, order them, and they’ll be delivered directly to your house. We don’t have to be the middleman in this, so you’re not coming to the center to pick things up or even pick them out. You’re ordering online, and it’s shipped directly to you.”

When asked about their favorite See’s Candy, the duo’s consensus was peanut brittle. “We actually buy some for the center right at the start just to get our lips wet with it, and holy cow, it goes quick,” joked Jensen.
Another thing the pair agreed on was the spirit of giving shown in Castle Country. “We have a great community. It just can’t be understated how incredible they are, especially when the holidays come around,” said Jensen.
Closing our conversation, Jensen shared,” The holidays are coming up. If you would like to volunteer with us, please get in touch. We always need help with some of the bigger events, and we would love to have people come and join our community. It’s a community definitely worth getting involved with.”
Active Re-Entry’s See’s Candy Fundraiser is active and runs until Dec. 5. Orders can be placed online and begin shipping on Nov. 11. Proceeds benefit all programs at Active Re-Entry.
