The Utah State Eastern women’s basketball team traveled to Riverton, Wyoming, to take part in the Rustler Classic Tournament hosted by Central Wyoming College. In the tournament, the Eagles faced the CWC Rustlers on Friday and the Wyoming All-Stars on Saturday.

The Eagles played the host Rustlers on Friday to open the tournament. The Eagles jumped to an early 13-8 lead after the first quarter. Umu Tukuafu scored six in the quarter to jumpstart Eastern. Central Wyoming responded with a 19-point quarter in the second period. Eastern trailed 26-27 after the first half.

The two teams battled in the third quarter, but it was the Rustlers who took a 41-43 lead into the final quarter. Despite an attempt for a comeback, the Eagles fell to the Rustlers 51-62.

Tukuafu led the Eagles with 12 points. Addison Tanner added 10 to join Tukuafu in double digits.

Looking for a bounce-back, the Eagles faced the Wyoming All-Stars on Saturday.

There was no shortage of offense in this game for Eastern as the Eagles scored 115 points en route to a 52-point win. Eastern outscored the All-Stars 24-14 in the first quarter, but a strong second quarter gave the Eagles a 61-32 halftime lead.

Eastern’s offensive onslaught continued in the second half, outscoring the All-Stars 54-31. Amiah Timothy led the Eagles with 20 points, and four Eagles scored 10+ points.

The Eagles will next host the Eagle Classic on Friday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 15. They will welcome Eastern Wyoming College, Central Wyoming College, and Snow College. The Eagles will play at 5:00 pm on Friday and 1:00 pm on Saturday.
