The Carbon and Emery swim teams opened up the season on the road in Cedar City for the Cedar Invitational last Friday and Saturday. With 12 teams in both divisions, it was a good start to the season. After the two-day event, the Emery Spartans, both the boys and girls teams, finished in sixth place in their divisions. The Lady Dinos finished in ninth while the Dino boys landed in eleventh.

The season got underway in Cedar City and will close out in February for the State Championships at Brigham Young University.

Both teams from Emery were able to collect sixth place in the boys’ and the girls’ division among 12 teams. The boys collected 177 points while the Lady Spartans finished with 172.

While the Spartans will have four home events this season, on November 18 with North Sanpete and Delta, November 25 against Grand and Carbon, December 12 with Union and Carbon, and January 6 against Richfield and Manti, they will also be in the pool in Price on three occasions, against Uintah and Carbon on December 10, then the Last Chance Invite on January 24, and the Region Tournament on January 30. The Spartans will be on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Roosevelt to take on Union and Uintah.

The Lady Dinos finished in ninth place, scoring 121 points, while the boys’ team finished in 11th with 83.

Carbon will have only three home meets this season, starting with the home opener on December 10, when Uintah and Emery come to Price. We then have to fast-forward to January 24, when they will host the Last Chance invite, and to January 30, when they will host the Region Tournament. They will, however, swim in Castle Dale twice when they face Emery on November 25 and again on  December 12. The Dinos won’t head back to the water until November 20, when they travel to Richfield.
