The Utah State Eastern Eagles stayed home for a mid-week matchup with the Yavapai College Roughriders on Tuesday. The Eagles entered the game with a 2-2 record, while the Roughriders were looking to bounce back from a loss the night before.
Eastern started the game with three-straight baskets from Bowen Davies. Eastern soon found themselves down 14-23 with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Eagles found a way to get back in the game, closing the Yavapai to two points at the half, 39-41. Bowen Davies finished the half strong with 17 points to lead the Eagles.
Davies scored the first points of the second half, tying the game at 41. After that point, the Eagles dominated the Roughriders, extending their lead to 10 points twice in the second half. With five minutes left, the Eagles made two free throws to take an 80-70 lead. It proved to be enough as the Eagles won the game, 90-87.
Bowen Davis had 24 points to lead the Eagles. Ike Palmer followed with 17. Isaac Castagnetto had 16, and Seven Bahati had 15 as the Eagles won their second-straight game.
Eastern will next host another tournament on Friday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 15, featuring the Eagles, the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans, the Western Wyoming Community College Mustangs, and the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers.
