It is with unimaginable sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved son, Chance Riter Oldroyd, on November 17, 2025. Chance was born on April 7, 2001, in Price, Utah and grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and a deep passion for life.

Chance, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on earth was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering gift for generosity.

His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and especially his sweetheart – soulmate, Sophie Seely; his son, Nash Oldroyd; and bonus daughter, Ilya Seely.

Those who knew Chance will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter. He had a rare gift for making others smile and to feel accepted, leaving a lasting impact on his friends, family, and even strangers.

After graduating from Emery High School in May of 2019, he had numerous jobs and the last one being a coal miner.

Chance enjoyed being outside; fishing, hunting, four-wheeler rides, football, basketball, you name it, it was time well spent with family and friends.

Chance is survived by his heartbroken parents, Steve and Kelly Oldroyd; sweetheart, Sophie Seely; son, Nash Oldroyd; bonus daughter, Ilya Seely; his beloved sisters, Aubrie and Jeremy Harrell, Kimberly and Phil Lundell, and Jenna and Chayce King; grandmothers, Margaret Oldroyd and Phyllis Blackburn; a large number of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and so many friends; and his amazing Seely family.

Chance was preceded in death by his infant brother, Grant Oldroyd; and grandpas, Vernon Oldroyd and Morris Blackburn.
