The Emery swim teams welcomed Grand and Carbon to the pool in Castle Dale on Tuesday and continued their string of success this season. Both the girls’ and the boys’ squads earned the top spots in the pool.

The Emery boys dominated the field, scoring 600 points; Carbon finished in second with 457, and Grand finished third with 179 points.

Relays were once again where the Spartans collected a lot of their point total, earning first place in all three. In the 200 medley, Thomas Black, Trek Petersen, Reve Mason, and Brekker Bunnell claimed the top spot in a time of 1:47.22; the team of Jaxon Durrant, Cody Howard, Kamron Hanson, and Jacob Morris finished third, and Hyrum Russell, Robert Bennett, Haylen Willis, and Corbin Madsen took fourth. In the 200 free, Black, Jamison Christiansen, Tyler Daley, and Petersen claimed first with 1:38.16. Morris, Hanson, Bennett, and Howard took second. In the 400 medley, Mason, Christiansen, Bunnell, and Daley took first with a time of 3:43.34. Madsen, Durrant, Jaden Reed, and Hyrum Russell finished in fourth.

Emery was very sound in individual events as well, with Black claiming two top spots. In the 200 free, he finished in 2:05.56, and in the 100 back, he earned the top spot with a 1:00.45. Daley claimed first in the 100 free in a time of 54.58 and then went on to take second in the 50 free. Peterson finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.52 and another first place in the 50 free at 24.21. Mason finished first in the 100 fly with his time of 57.72 and second in the backstroke.

Christiansen finished in second place in the 200 IM and grabbed a third-place finish in the 100 free. Tayden Rasmussen claimed second in the 500 free, followed by Howard in third. Morris took third in the 200 IM, with Bennett taking fifth. Hanson grabbed a pair of top-five finishes in the 100 fly, taking third, and the 50 free, taking fifth. Madsen had a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 200 free and the 100-yard backstroke, with Durrant taking fourth. Bunnell grabbed a fourth place finish in the 100 fly with Willis in fifth, and Bunnell swam to a fourth place finish in the 100 fly.  Ethan Mills finished the 100 free in fifth, and Logan O’Neil earned fifth in the 500 free.

The Lady Spartans also earned top marks in the girls’ division, with 522 points. Carbon finished second with 411, and Grand third, scoring 249.

Just like the boys, the Lady Spartans excelled in relays, with eight teams earning top-five finishes. In the 200 medley, Illyria Mason, Brooklyn O’Neil, Hallie Frandsen, and Jessie Childs took first in a time of 2:08.50, Katie Bell, Emma Grimm, Maggie Jeffs, and Hadley Meccariello finished third, and Chante Guymon, Kaila Martineau, Abbie Moulton, and Grace Gardner finished fourth. The team of Childs, O’Neil, Mason, and Frandsen swam to first in a time of 1:53.20; Guymon, Lily White, Abbie Gardner, and Grimm finished in fifth. The 400 medley team of Grace Allen, Meccariello, Bell, and Johnasen swam to a second-place finish. Moulton, Jeffs, Laycee Winn, and Sydni Lake took fourth, and Gardner, White, Marineau, and Danika Jewkes finished fifth.

Individually, Childs earned a pair of first-place finishes. In the 100 fly, she turned in a time of 1:15.04, and in the 200 free, she posted a time of 1:53.20, leading the field. She also earned a fifth-place finish in the backstroke. Allen claimed first in the backstroke with a time of 1:12.97 and would finish second in the 200 IM. Johanson swam her way to a first-place finish in the 200 free at 2:24.04 and second in the 500 free. Mason grabbed the top spot in the breaststroke with a time of 1:23.00 and took second in the 100 fly.

Brooklyn O’Neil claimed two top-five finishes in the 200 free, taking fourth, and in the breaststroke, taking second. Grimm finished in fifth in both the 100 free and the breaststroke. Lake took fourth in the 500 free and fifth in the 200. Bell claimed third in the backstroke, Frandsen finished second in the 100 and third in the breaststroke, Meccariello took second in the 50 free, Guymon finished right behind in third, and White finished third in the 200 IM.

The Spartans are back in the pool on Tuesday when they travel to face the Templars in Manti.
