Heavy snow and multiple accidents along US-6 have created severe delays along the stretch of highway, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

“There are multiple crashes along US-6 between MP 202 and 210/Tucker to Soldier Summit,” reads a social media post from UDOT. “Drivers should plan for heavy delays and periods of stopped traffic as crews work to clear vehicles from blocking.”

Due to the crashes, stretches of the highway were closed, but have since been reopened.

Details surrounding the crashes – including how many vehicles and people were involved – have not been released at this time.

These delays come as Utah experiences its first major snowfall of the season, which also coincides with one of the busiest travel days of the year as citizens return from the Thanksgiving holiday.

UDOT is encouraging drivers to remember several winter tips, such as not passing snowplows on the road and slowing down as winter weather takes hold.
