
Our beloved husband, father, brother, longtime friend and co-worker, Leslie James Hamilton, 84, passed away December 21, 2025 at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City after a lengthy health battle.
He was born February 8, 1941 in Oak Creek, Colorado to Lester and Ida Swindell Hamilton. After moving to Utah, Les attended elementary, junior high, and high school in East Carbon and later attended Carbon College in Price.
On November 21, 1964, he married his beloved neighbor and childhood sweetheart, Judy Kay Heer in East Carbon, Utah and they later moved to Denver, Colorado. After realizing Denver was too big, Les and Judy moved back to East Carbon where he worked at the Horse Canyon Mine and later for UDOT. Les enjoyed hard work and he was blessed to work alongside some great co-workers. Les always enjoyed a good laugh and he loved to joke with his family and friends. Les will be sorely missed by his family and a community of friends.
Les is survived by his wife, Judy Hamilton, East Carbon; son, Steven (Sonya) Hamilton, Price; daughter, Jennifer Hamilton, Price; sisters, Joyce Breen, Florida, Dolores (Mark) Holsten, Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Joan Pilling, Price; bonus grandchildren, Lisa (Darren) Mortenson, Price, Bill (Becca) Ward, North Salt Lake; and many loving nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lyle (Marion) Swindell; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Maria) Heer and Bud Pilling; nephew, Michael Heer; and a daughter-in-law, Randie Hamilton.
Funeral service, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, 10:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial with military honors will be accorded in the Valley View Cemetery in Sunnyside, Utah.
