On Tuesday evening, the Lady Spartans played their second game in as many days at San Rafael Middle School in Ferron. Coming off a loss on Monday, Emery was looking to get back in the win column against Duchesne. The Spartans came out strong in the first quarter, but a big fourth quarter by the Eagles led to a 63-49 loss for the Lady Spartans.
Monday afternoon, Emery welcomed Pine View to the court with the Spartans coming up just short, 45-36. Emery faced Duchesne earlier in the year, claiming a victory, and was looking to repeat that feat Tuesday.
The Spartans came out in the first quarter with their offense on display, taking a 17-14 lead. In the second, the Eagles took a bit of an advantage, outscoring Emery 15-10 and taking a slight lead, 29-27, into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, the Eagles came out and, once again, did just enough to take the lead, as Emery scored 10 in the quarter, but Duchesne would edge the Spartans 42-37 going into the fourth. In the final eight minutes, the Eagles turned the offense on and never looked back, scoring 21 in the quarter and holding the Spartans to 12 as Duchesne walked away with a 63-49 win.
Aleeyah Cowley led the Lady Spartans with 13, grabbing four rebounds and a steal. Kabree Gordon had 11 with three boards and a steal. Addie Hurst scored six with one rebound, and Skylee Guymon pulled down eight rebounds in the loss.
The Lady Spartans will be back on the floor at the Spartan Center on Tuesday when they welcome the Salem Hills Skyhawks.
Game time is set for 7:00 p.m..
