cgb-017-2

Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Dinos were back on the court for the first time since December 17.  Looking to build on the momentum from that contest, they welcomed the Pine View Panthers to Jurassic Park. Carbon struggled in the early going and looked like they had put it together by the third, but the Panthers overpowered the Dinos, taking a 69-39 win.

On December 17, the Lady Dinos were in Ogden and dismantled the Ben Lomond Scots 50-10. Carbon wanted to stay in the win column, but the Panthers had a different plan.

Pine View was coming off a win on Monday over the Emery Lady Spartans and started out looking for another. In the first quarter, they outscored the Lady Dinos 13-9.  In the second, the Panthers started to pull away from Carbon, outscoring the Dinos 20-7 and carrying a 33-16 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Carbon regrouped a bit in the third, putting up 15 in the quarter, but on defense, they surrendered 18 as the Panthers’ lead grew to 51-31. Carbon would slip again in the final quarter, putting up just eight points and giving up 18 to Pine View as the Panthers handed the Lady Dinos their ninth loss of the season, 69-39.

Bailey Johnson and freshman Tayla Orth both scored 11 for Carbon. Johnson added two rebounds and one steal, and Orth had three rebounds, a steal, and an assist. Natalie Cartwright scored nine with three rebounds and a steal in the loss.

The Lady Dinos get back on the floor when they start region play on Tuesday by welcoming the Union Cougars to Price.
