As the holidays draw to a close, but the winter months continue, some may find themselves restless and overcome by the winter blues. To combat this, Miss Legacy Shalyce Rauhala is playing host to a Winter Wonderland Tea Party on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Rauhala joined the KOAL newsroom to preview the affair and share what’s in store for princesses across the Castle Country.
Opening the discussion, Rauhala explained how she made the jump in titles from Miss Carbon County to Miss Legacy. “I was able to run in a different pageant organization, and I won the title of Miss Legacy. And now I have a full year of being able to serve my community and being able to do things with my community service initiative which focuses on mental health awareness and suicide prevention and I am so excited to bring back the Winter Wonderland Tea Party.”
She continued, moving to the inspiration behind the event,” I realize around the time of winter and after Christmas, a lot of people get the winter blues of staying inside, there’s not a lot to do, so I thought it would be great to get the children out of their house, do something that they enjoy, that they love. They get to dress up as a pretty princess, meet Prince Charming, which I did pull my boyfriend into, and he probably is upset with me, but it’s fine,” the royalty joked.
Tickets for the event cost $25 per princess and $10 per adult. Included in the fare is a barrage of activities to keep attendees entertained throughout the afternoon.
“They’re going to show up, and they get to have their own little crown, and they’ll be in their beautiful princess gowns,” said Rauhala. “They’ll get a little manicure, meet Prince Charming, and there’s going to be so many other princesses. I was able to invite the Miss Carbon County Royalty and some other titleholders throughout Utah.”
Rauhala also peeled back the curtain and spoke on what the funds raised from the event will be used for,” I have two honeybees that will be joining me to Miss Utah. So this is a fundraiser to help them pay to go to Miss Utah to go with me and to help us get to Miss Utah and represent everybody around us.”
Tickets can be purchased through Rauhala’s Venmo @Shalyce-Rauhala. When buying tickets, include both the purchaser’s first and last name.
Closing our conversation, Rauhala previewed what lies ahead in her journey as Miss Legacy: “I’m doing multiple things that include my CSI, which is my community service initiative. And coming up is still in the works, but I do have a mental health conference coming up that is going to be centered on family wellness and just being able to teach your kids and what to do with a friend, what to do with a family member or yourself if you struggle with something with mental health or suicide. And I am so excited about this event. And then after that, there will be Miss Utah, and in between so many other events, and I’m just excited for this entire year.”
Miss Legacy’s Winter Wonderland Tea Party takes place on Saturday, Jan. 17, beginning at 2 p.m. at 449 North, 100 East in Price. More information can be found online at the Miss Legacy Facebook page.
