Over the weekend in Cedar City, the Emery Spartan wrestling squad competed in the Irontown Duals, facing nine schools over the two-day event. Five Emery wrestlers finished with winning records, and as a team, the Spartans went 5-4 against schools from Utah and Nevada, finishing 5th in Pool A.
Dixon Peacock turned in a fantastic performance at 126 pounds, going 8-1 over the weekend, with his only loss coming at the hands of Aidan Hernandez of Sierra Vista by an 8-1 decision. Hazen Meccariello finished the weekend at 6-2 at 190 pounds, winning all of his matches by pin with the exception of two won by forfeit. Damon Farley at 157 pounds went 6-3. Farley won five matches by pin and one by forfeit. Corbin Brady at 106 pounds closed out the weekend with a 6-3 mark, as well as winning his first six matches, three by pin and three by forfeit.
Ty Christiansen went 5-4 in the 120-pound class, winning all his matches by pin, and Dimitri Bunn at 215 pounds was 1-0 with his lone win coming over Grayson Aldrich, of Richfield.
Emery has another busy week on tap as they head into the final week of the regular season.
Monday, the team will make the trip to Mount Pleasant to face North Sanpete. On Thursday, they welcome Carbon to the Spartan Center on senior night, before closing out the weekend at the North Sevier Tournament in Salina.
