Garry John Farrell was born on February 17, 1947, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to Bernard and Dorothy Brown Farrell. He passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026 in Price, Utah.
Garry was the oldest of 5 boys. Most of his childhood was spent following his father’s Military Career, in the States as well as abroad. They lived in England for a few years, and while there, he enjoyed his time attending Catholic School. Their adventures eventually brought the family to Phoenix, Arizona, where he graduated from High School.
He enjoyed playing football and working on cars. He loved to tell the family about how he taught himself to work on cars. He was very proud to say his first engine rebuild was at the age of 14. His dad was later transferred to Green River, Utah. He discovered his love for cooking when he was working at Ray’s Tavern. He met his good friend Earl Jewkes in Green River. Garry and Earl worked in the Uranium mines near Green River and Moab. The family eventually moved to Price so the boys could have the opportunity to attend college.
It was in Price that he met his sweetheart, Linda Rhodes. They married on November 10, 1972, where they settled down and raised their family. They had 4 children; Michelle, Michael (deceased), Jaysen, and Traci.
Garry was a very hard worker. He worked in several restaurants and construction for a while, and finished his career at Western Coal Carriers where he was a tireman, mechanic, and coal hauler when he retired in 2004. He was an active member of the UMWA union. He loved to go fishing, especially at Lake Powell. He was also a member of the Bass Masters Association.
Garry and Linda loved to take their young family camping and fishing. They spent most of the summer months each year with family and friends skiing, boating, playing games, and cooking. He also enjoyed going camping and hunting in the fall with family and friends including Earl and Rich Mohawk. He spent many nights and weekends building both Stock Cars for racing and demolition derby cars for crashing. He loved everything “Cars!” He took first place in “The Derby” before retiring from the sport.
In 2000, Garry and Linda purchased a scrapbook store for their family to run, as scrapbooking had become a hobby for them all. When Garry retired, he would often be found visiting and chatting with customers. He was always joking and teasing someone. He loved playing cards and games with friends and loved ones.
Garry leaves behind his loving wife, Linda; children, Michelle of St. George, Jaysen (Michelle) of Springville, Traci (Dennis) of Price; grandchildren, Chris, Michael, Bryston, Skyler, Freddie, Bradley, Zac, Kameron and Dashelle; brothers, Robert (Jen), T.J. (Jeanie), Dennis (Aida) as well as many special family, friends, and loved ones.
