On Monday evening, the Emery Spartan wrestling squad traveled to Mount Pleasant to take on the North Sanpete Hawks. With the season winding down, every meet becomes important for the Spartans, and in this event, they came away with a 53-50 win, capturing nine wins on the evening.

This was the first of three meets this week for the Spartans. On Thursday night, they will meet up with the Carbon Dinos at the Spartan Center for Senior Night, and then Friday and Saturday will be spent in Salina at the North Sevier tournament.

Corbin Brady got things started for the Spartans, earning a win over Quaid Withers by pin. Ty Christiansen got the win over Chaetton Osborne by default, and Dixon Peacock earned the win by pinning Joshua Watson.

At 138 pounds, Ryan Collard took the win over Easton Henrie by technical fall; Jasper Allen took out Trevor Man by pin at 150 pounds. Damon Farley earned the win over Damien Sorensen by pin at 157 pounds.

Hayz Horton at 165 pounds got the win over Andy Aragon-Begay by default. At 190 pounds, Hazen Macarello pinned his opponent, Jesse Nutall, and Branson Mortensen earned a win at 285 pounds by forfeit.

On Thursday evening, the Spartans will welcome the Carbon Dinos to the Spartan Center for Senior Night. They will head to Salina Friday and Saturday for the North Sevier tournament before divisionals on January 23rd and 24th at Union.
