The Carbon Dinos took to the mat for the second dual in as many days on Wednesday, Jan. 14, as they welcomed the Union Cougars to town for a senior night showdown. Winning three of the first four matches via fall, the early boost powered Carbon to a 43-27 victory.

The Dinos won the first four matches of the dual, with Jantz Greenhalgh, Ashdyn Densley and Kayden Smith pinning their opponents, while JJ Munoz won by major decision in the 120-pound classification, 23-9.

A streak of union wins was snapped by Riker O’Hearon, who won by fall at 144. Also coming up with victories for the Dinos were Jack Burdick, William Hinckly and a dual-sealing pin from Jared Simmons to power carbon to a 43-27 win, sending the squad’s seniors off in style.

Following the victory, Carbon still saw plenty of mat time to experience over the next three days, starting with a trip to Emery High for a showdown against the Spartans on Thursday, Jan. 15. Following this, the Dinos travel to The Rumble, one of the most prestigious folkstyle tournaments in the Western United States, on Friday and Saturday.
