The Utah State Eastern women’s basketball team, which received votes in the most recent NJCAA polls, welcomed the No. 9 College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles for a matchup in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
The Eagles started the game on a 5-0 run, and behind 10 combined points from Skylie Barker and Alyssa Whittaker, the Eagles took a 10-9 lead after the first quarter.

In the second period, the two teams traded baskets, keeping the contest closely contested. Seven different Eagles found the bottom of the net as Eastern led 32-29 at the half. Skylie Barker led the Eagles with eight points in the first half.
The Eagles came out of the break with a dominant defense, holding CSI to just nine points in the half, while scoring 18. Marlee Pieper’s eight points in the quarter led to a 50-38 lead after the third period.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles had their best offensive period of the night, scoring 26 points to seal the 76-62 win. Skylie Barker and Addasyn Scrivner each finished with 13 points, and Marlee Pieper recorded a 12-point, 9-rebound performance.
The win extends Eastern’s unblemished conference record to 7-0, and their season record to 16-6.
Next for the Eagles is Fan Appreciation Night against the North Idaho College Cardinals. The game is set for Saturday, January 31, at 1:00 p.m.
