Seeking to connect residents of the Castle Country with a furry friend, while also alleviating the burden on their nonprofit shelter, the Emery Cat Rescue is hosting a Valentine’s Adoption Event on Friday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in front of Tractor Supply Co.

Hailey Thayn, a volunteer with Emery Cat Rescue, joined the KOAL newsroom to discuss the event and how the community can get involved with the organization.

“The main purpose right now is just to get our cats adopted. We have over 40 cats at the rescue right now, and we are way over the limit. And so our main focus is just to find them homes,” shared Thayn of the event.

The event will have a $25 adoption fee for those looking to take a cat home. However, the animals are spayed, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and litter box trained. Visitors can also stop by and spend time with the animals.

Speaking to the benefits of owning a cat, Thayn stated, “The main benefit besides catching mice is definitely just companionship and emotional support. There’s nothing like getting out of bed in the morning and having a fluffy little friend right by you.”

In addition to the adoption event, Emery Cat Rescue is always seeking volunteers and donations. Thayn explained how to go about both avenues of giving: “So you can either go to our website at Emerycatrescue.org or on our Facebook page. But also at the volunteer adoption event, you can come, and we’ll be accepting cash or physical donations.”

Closing our conversation, Thayn said,” Come to the adoption event. Don’t worry about feeling pressured to bring a furry friend home. Just come meet us, get to know our cause, get to know us and have a fun time before Valentine’s.”

The Emery Cat Rescue Valentine’s Adoption Event takes place on Friday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in front of Tractor Supply Co, located at 1277 East Main Street in Price. More information on the organization can be found online at Emerycatrescue.org or on the group’s Facebook page.
