As a part of continuing safety improvements along US-6, connecting Spanish Fork and Helper, the Utah Department of Transportation announced two new safety projects for the stretch of road.

Starting near Sheep Creek Road, UDOT will undertake a project to widen the highway from two to four lanes. Additionally, UDOT seeks to add a center median barrier, flatten the curves and improve the intersection.

Closer to Helper, at the US-6/US-89 intersection, UDOT aims to upgrade the intersection to make it free-flowing. To accomplish this, UDOT would lower US-89 so it can pass underneath US-6, with the ultimate goal of making it safer to enter and exit the highway in the area.

“This is all part of a bigger plan to make US-6 safer and easier to travel. More than $110 million is already set aside for improvements between Spanish Fork and Helper,” said UDOT in a social media post. “So next time you run into construction along this route, just know it’s all work aimed at making the road safer and better for everyone.”
