On Tuesday, the Utah High School Activities Association released its list of Gold Star Coaches, and Kristy Guymon, the Lady Spartan cross-country and Track-and-Field coach, received the honor.
The UHSAA’s Gold Star Coach award honors coaches who go above and beyond in mentoring their athletes, encouraging success in sports, and instilling values of integrity and leadership on and off the field.
One of the highlights of Guymon’s career came in October of last year, when the Lady Spartan cross-country team earned its first-ever state title. Making it even sweeter by having her daughters, Addyson and Skylee, both on the Championship squad.
Jake Atwood, Emery High athletic director, had this to say about Guymon.
“Kristy has been a huge part of our track and cross country programs for 20+ years and has done a great job. There is nobody more deserving of the award than Kristy Guymon.”
The award is about ensuring that athletics not only teaches competition but also helps student-athletes become the best people they can be.
Congratulations go out to Coach Guymon on receiving this honor.
