The Carbon boys’ volleyball squad got back on the court Friday night in front of the home crowd to take on the Dugway Mustangs. In their first action since last season’s State Championships. The time away didn’t hurt the Dinos, as they took the win in straight sets.

Last season, the Dinos finished with a 15-12 mark, going 7-5 in region play. After a loss to Salt Lake Academy in the quarterfinals, they faced American Heritage, falling in that match to end the season. This season, the Dinos have been picked to finish second in the 3A South Region.

Carbon was ready for the Mustangs as they came out in set number one, taking a 25-14 win. Dugway became more competitive in set two, but the Dinos still came out on top 25-18. In the third, and what would be the final set, both teams were ready for battle. Carbon was looking to close out the Mustangs, and Dugway was looking to mount a comeback. The Dinos came away with a slight edge, 25-22, closing out Dugway in straight sets.

Carter Warburton collected 11 kills and added seven service aces for Carbon. Grant Sherman had 12 assists and five kills, and Bryken Preston added 13 assists and three service aces. Kyler Orth had six kills, and Dylan Black had five service aces in the win.
The Dinos welcome Salt Lake Academy to Price on Tuesday, March 10. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
