Following weeks of searching, the car of DeEtte Spencer, the missing 70-year-old woman from Escalante, Utah, was found on Thursday by a utility worker in a remote area of Carbon County.

Spencer, who was last seen on Jan. 26 at the Walmart in Price City, has been the subject of a statewide Silver Alert and a nationwide Attempt-to-Locate bulletin since her disappearance.

“Carbon County Deputies and Search and Rescue personnel got to the car late Thursday afternoon and searched until dark without finding DeEtte,” reads a release from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office. “Beginning early Friday, Carbon County personnel were joined by Utah County Search and Rescue members with drones and K9’s, searching throughout the day, again unsuccessfully.”

On Saturday, authorities state that 50-60 Search and Rescue personnel from multiple counties, alongside K-9 units, drones and an airplane, all played a role in the search for Spencer. Unfortunately, these efforts have been unable to locate the missing woman. As of Sunday, the GCSO said the Spencer was still missing.

“Based on the investigation at the location where the car was found, officials don’t believe foul play is involved in DeEtte’s disappearance,” adds the release. “They suspect she may have left the vehicle on foot due to issues with her car and wandered away.”

Anyone with information on Spencer’s location is asked to contact the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office at 435-636-3251.
