A new era for BK’s Stop-N-Shop was christened on Wednesday, March 18, as the Emery County Business Chamber stopped by to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the business during its monthly’ Lunch and Learn’ event.
Owned for over 50 years by Kent Wilson, the iconic gas station and convenience store was purchased by Gas Stop, which owns and operates 21 stores across the state. Founders Paul and Henry Patel were present at the event and shared additional details about the acquisition.
“We are bringing some new stuff that’s exciting, kind of like a new menu here and a new app. It’s called the Gas Stop app that will reward you for every purchase that you make here,” explained Henry Patel. “It also saves $0.10 per gallon at the pump.”
He continued, speaking on the goal to preserve the heritage associated with BK’s: “We want to keep whatever was good and continue with that, and want to be a community support.” The Patels also shared that they would preserve the BK’s name and not change it.
Other changes the new ownership seeks to bring include a new salad bar option in the pizza place, as well as putting new appetizers on the menu.
“BK’s has been around for a little over 50 years now, I think this is 51 years, and we’ve always been a big part of the community,” said Manager Clerece Chidester. “We just want BK’s to continue being what it’s been, and that’s the goal.”
Following these remarks, Chidester officially cut the ribbon, welcoming the new ownership to the Castle Country.
