
Over the weekend, the Carbon Dino track and field team made the trip to St. George for the Pine View Invitational. Over 40 teams from throughout the area took part in this highly competitive meet. The Lady Dinos finished the two days in seventh place, and the boys’ team finished 15th.
Emery claimed the top spot in the girls’ division with 60 points; Corner Canyon finished second with 52. Riverton (48), Snow Canyon (40), and host Pine View (36) rounded out the top five. Carbon scored 28 points, landing them in seventh place out of 44 teams.
The Lady Dinos relay team of Blythe Bradford, Malia Smith, Naomi Smith, and Rozlyn Stowe earned a first-place finish in the sprint medley relay with their time of 4:13.16.
In individual events, Bradford collected an eighth-place finish in the long jump; Stowe earned a second-place finish in the 1600, and followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the 3200, and was sixth in the 800.
In the boys’ division, it was Orem taking top honors with 58 points, and American Fork finished second with 44. Bonneville (40), Morgan (38), and Herriman (37) rounded out the top five. Carbon took 15th out of 48 teams with 16 points.
Michael Weber, Benjamin Simms, Dallin Humes, and Dexter Packard claimed second place in the sprint medley relay.
Individually, Packard earned a second-place finish in the long jump with his distance of 21-6.75.
The Dinos will now be off until Friday, March 27, when they will travel to Roosevelt to take part in the Strata Invitational, hosted by Union High School.
