
On Tuesday, the Carbon Dino baseball squad got onto the field to take on Manti in their region opener in front of the home crowd. The Templars jumped out early, and the Dinos couldn’t find enough offense as they fell 7-3.
The Dinos sit at 6-6 overall and 0-1 in region play. This was the first of two games with Manti this week.
When the Dinos came up in the bottom of the 4th, they were already down 6-0. The inning would start with a single and three walks as Maddux Willson would walk, bringing in Cash Withers to score, getting the Dinos on the board.
Carbon would add two more runs in the next two innings. In the bottom of the 5th, Paxton Falk would send a ground ball and reach on an error by the third basemen, driving in Logan Bennett. And in the bottom of the 6th, Adrian Vasquez doubled a fly to left, bringing home Kanyon Grant. After that, the Dino bats would go cold, and Manti would walk away with the 7-3 win.
Withers went 2-4 with a run scored. Willson was 2-3 with an RBI, and Bennett scored one. Grant had one run, and Vasquez had one RBI in the loss.
Falk got the start on the mound, going four innings, giving up six runs, two earned, on eight hits, while striking out four. Logan Curtis closed the game out with one run on four hits and struck out one.
The Dinos will make the trip to take on the Templars at Manti’s home field on Friday, March 27th.
