The Emery Spartan track and field Squad found themselves in Orem on Friday, taking part in the Timpanogos Alpha Invitational. Behind strong performances from Skylee Guymon and Addy Guymon, the Lady Spartans found themselves at the top of the field of 35 for the invitational. The Emery boys’ squad did participate but didn’t place.

The Lady Spartans finished first, followed by Riverton, which took second. Herriman and Corner Canyon tied for third, and American Fork landed in 5th out of the 35 teams that competed in the girls division.

Skylee Guymon sat atop the leaderboard for the Emery Lady Spartans with three first-place finishes. In the 100-meter hurdles, she turned in a time of 14.33. She also claimed first-place finishes in the 200 (25.15) and the 400 m (55.60). Addy Guymon would take first place in two distance runs: the 800, 2:12.99, and the 1600, 4:57.88.

Carlie Hurst took fourth int he 300 meter hurdles, with Kabree Gordon finishing in seventh. Gordon also claimed eighth in the long jump.

Lone Peak took the top spot in the boys division, followed by Orem in second. Corner Canyon, Skyridge, and Springville rounded out the top five.

Top finishers for the Emery Spartans were Landon Braun, who took 39th in the 3200, and Jasper Allen, finishing 49th in the javelin.

The Spartans will be back to work on Friday, this time closer to home, as they take part in the Dino Trax Invitational at Carbon High School. Competition is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m.
