Last Friday and Saturday, the Emery High Spartan track and field squad traveled to Provo for the BYU Invitational. Emery’s Skylee Guymon earned another state record in the 300-meter hurdles at one of the biggest events of the season. With over 100 teams and almost 3,500 athletes competing across two divisions, the Lady Spartans finished sixth.

In the girls’ division, it was the Snow Canyon team taking first place with 61 points. Corner Canyon followed in second with 60, Lone Peak finished third with 51, Riverton had 48, and Pineview had 41 to round out the top five. Emery sat in sixth place overall with 35 points out of 55 teams competing.

Guymon claimed second place and a 3A state record in the 300-meter hurdles with her time of 41.36. She also claimed second place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.14, just behind first-place Amelia Nadauld of Snow Canyon, who ran 14.09. Addy Guymon claimed second place in both the 1600 and the 3200 and finished fifth in the 800. Kabree Gordon finished in eighth in the long jump.

In the boys’ division, Herriman took first with 46 points, and Weber finished second with 40. Orem and Lone Peak tied for third with 37, and Mountain View rounded out the top five with 35. Emery was not ranked.

Elias Hascall finished in 165th place in the shot put. Joey Bouldin landed in 200th in the long jump, Tage Jensen took 200 in the 200 meter, and Zander Robinson finished 283rd in the 800.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Spartans will host the rest of Region 13 for the Regional Championships in Castle Dale.
