Former Carbon High School standout Cole Fossat was one of six USU Eastern baseball players to receive All-Conference honors for a standout 2017 campaign.

Fossat ended his first junior college season with a .370 batting average, 38 hits, 31 RBIs, and three home runs. Defensively he excelled with a .916 fielding percentage, earning Defensive Player of the Year. Playing shortstop and working as a relief pitcher, Fossat was also named to the All-Conference Second Team.

To no surprise freshman pitcher Chase Stratton received an All-Conference First Team selection. Stratton finished the season 3-3 on the hill and delivered a 2.72 ERA, and was named SWAC Pitcher of the Week on two separate occasions during league play.

Freshman Jesse Rowley joined Stratton on the All-Conference First Team. Leading the Eagles with a .350 average throughout the regular season, Rowley logged 19 RBIs and 13 home runs. Rowley capped off a fantastic regular season by going 3-4 with two home runs, and seven RBIs in the team’s conference tournament loss to Colorado Northwestern Community College.

Joining Fossat on the All-Conference Second Team is Steven Ortiz. Adding consistency to the batting order, Ortiz finished with a .263 average and 10 RBIs. Like Fossat and Rowley, Ortiz is expected to play an important role when he returns to the team next season.

Sophomore Austin Pitcher was recognized for his consistent play by nabbing an All-Conference Honorable Mention. Hitting .282 throughout the season, Pitcher ended with a .422 OBP.

Fellow sophomore Zac Lundell was named to the All-Conference Defensive squad after logging a 1.000 fielding percentage. Lundell was a staple once again for the Eagles, coming off of an impressive freshman campaign.
