On Sunday evening, Wellington and Price City Fire Department were both dispatched to a fire at the Wellington City Maintenance Building located on the southwest portion of the city park off Main Street.
According to a city official, the building housed equipment and tools belonging to the city. Luckily, it looks as though everything inside will be salvageable.
The fire inspector arrived on the scene Monday morning to gather information, inspect the condition of the building to assist in determining why the building caught on fire. Once the inspector submits a report, then the city will begin the process of working with the insurance company.
There was no report of anyone hurt in the fire, nor has there been any speculation as to why the building caught fire.
The remnants of the fire will not impact the city’s Pioneer Days celebration that takes place inside the park on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22.
