The Desert Thunder Raceway played host to its second set of races, as seven different classes competed throughout the two day event Friday and Saturday in Price.

Regan Tafoya earned the checkered flag in Friday’s IMCA Modified showdown, which has developed into the main attraction at the track. Tafoya edged out second place finisher Bert Beech, while Chase Hanson, Derek Rhoden and Wyatt Howard completed the top five.

Unable to repeat on Saturday, Tafoya finished in second as Beech claimed first place. Aaron Spangler, Howard and Kelly Smith completed the top five to close out the weekend.

Larry Thomas walked away as one of only drivers to sweep the weekend, taking the checkered flag in the 305 Modifieds both evenings. Cole Olson also secured first place in the truck class on both evening events.

Two sessions deep into the season the Desert Thunder Raceway will return in September with the area’s biggest show, the Castle Country Clash. Track, State, Regional and National championships will be on the line when drivers from all over the nation convene on September 29 and 30.
