Oakley Toomer and Shaidyn Killpack led the Emery Spartans golf team to its best finish of the year at the Millsite Golf Course in the fifth Region 15 meet of the season Thursday afternoon.

Looking to improve the team’s standing from last in the region leaderboard, Toomer fired an individual score of 76, while Killpack shot a 77. The two individual marks helped Emery to a team score of 337, good enough for third place overall.

The Grand Red Devils took over first place in the region with a dominating score of 307. North Sanpete finished just two strokes better than Emery with a 335. Richfield and South Sevier completed the top five, while San Juan and Manti rounded out the field of seven.

Jordan Ekker registered Emery’s third score with a 91, while Taylor Lindsey completed the team’s total with a 93. Devan Guymon, Koda Alton, Logan Healy and Justin Rasmussen also competed as individuals in the home meet.

With only one meet left before the region finale on September 21, the Spartans will look to build off of Thursday’s showing when they travel to South Sevier on Wednesday.
