PRICE, UTAH – The National Junior College Athletic Association ranked Utah State Eastern volleyball 14 in the nation in the latest NJCAA Division I volleyball poll released on Tuesday.

The Eagles received seven total points in the poll after being previously being ranked 13 in the poll released last week.

Three other Region XVIII teams received votes in the top 20 rankings: 5 Southern Idaho, 8 Snow, and 10 Salt Lake.

Other teams that are on Utah State Eastern’s schedule who were in the top 20 include Western Nebraska, Seward County and Arizona Western with New Mexico Military receiving some votes outside the top 20.

Utah State Eastern’s overall record sits at 11-1 overall which surpasses last year’s win total of 10 wins.

Miami Dade was ranked number one on the committee followed by Iowa Western, and Panola.

Last weekend the traveled to Rangely, Colorado for the Blue Mountain Inn and Suites invitational where they went 3-1 in four matches.

Their lone lost was against then fifth ranked Western Nebraska in three sets.

This weekend the Eagles will travel to Las Vegas to take part in the CSN Coyote invitational and play four matches including a matchup of top 15 teams on Saturday afternoon when they play 9 Seward County.

The Eagles statistically as team are nationally ranked 11 in kills (542), 10 in assists (520), and 5 in digs (880).

Freshman Megan Gurr is ranked second in the nation in digs with 259.

Sophomore Sidney Springer is ranked seventh in the nation in kills with 147.

Sophomore Agatha Roese-Olsen is ranked second in the nation in assists with 450.

Volleyball’s home opener is scheduled for September 23 against conference opponent Colorado Northwest at 3 p.m. MST.
