The Carbon Lady Dinos delivered a strong effort, but fell short in a 2-1 setback to Maeser Prep Thursday afternoon on the road in a Region 14 showdown.
After playing an even first half the Lady Dinos found themselves locked in a 1-1 tied entering the second half. Maesar Prep’s Cydne Baker broke the tie with the period’s only goal, eventually handing Carbon a loss.
Thursday’s loss marks the second in three games for Carbon, as well as the second to Maeser Prep. While the Lady Dinos sit 3-6 in region play, they still control their own destiny for a playoff spot in the upcoming state tournament.
Needing to finish in the top six within the Region 14 standings, the Lady Dinos are currently tied with Providence Hall in the win column for fourth. With three games remaining on the regular season slate Carbon holds a two game lead over American Leadership for the final playoff spot.
The Lady Dinos will have an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot in the state tournament when they play host to ALA on Tuesday. Carbon won the first meeting between the two back on Aug. 31 in a 1-0 defensive battle.
