After defeating Dugway in the 1A play-in round, the Pinnacle Panthers were handily defeated by Diamond Ranch 86-49 Wednesday in the tournament's opening round at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.

Falling behind early 30-13 by the end of the opening quarter, the Panthers were outscored in the ensuing three quarters. While Pinnacle will have an opportunity to play in the consolation bracket, Wednesday's loss ends the team's championship hopes.

Pinnacle qualified for the state tournament following a 76-48 win over Dugway on Tuesday. In the win the Panthers were led by Brandon Otto's 22 point performance. Kaden Daughters and Val Acosta also chipped in with 14 points a piece.

Hoping to extend their season the Panthers will go head-to-head with Bryce Valley on Thursday at 2:30 pm. A win will extend Pinnacle's season as they'll play the winner of Tabiona and Whitehorse on Friday. A loss will bring the season to a close.
