The Desert Thunder Raceway will play host to its biggest, and final races of the 2017 season Friday and Saturday night with the Castle Country Clash.
Wrapping up a season that started back in May, the Desert Thunder Raceway has developed a tradition with the finale each year. The two day event will feature the traditional IMCA Modified, IMCA Sports Modified, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Trucks, Hobby Stocks and Mini Stocks.
Traditionally the IMCA Modified class has been revered as the main attraction. While the action of the Modifieds may be in full force, the Stock Cars may provide the largest field.
“We’re expecting around 30 Stock Cars, which is something that we have never seen before at Desert Thunder Raceway,” said track owner Harvey Howard. “There will be roughly 24 of the best Stock Cars I’ve seen in the west on the track at the same time.”
In the IMCA Modified classification local drivers Mickey Stubbings and Wyatt Howard are both looking to cap off a fantastic 2017 season. Howard recently claimed the track championship in Millard, while Stubbings has put together a highly successful campaign with multiple wins.
The gates will open up both Friday and Saturday at 4:00 p.m., with the races scheduled to begin both nights at 6:00. Admission for Friday’s action starts at $8.00 for adults, and $5.00 for seniors and kids 6-12. Adult Saturday prices increase to $8.00, while seniors and kids 6-12 are $6.00. Family passes will be available both nights for $25.00.
For those wanting to get even closer to the action Pit Passes will be available for $15.00. This added incentive give both hardcore and casual race fans an opportunity to see the action up close.
