The Emery Spartans boys basketball team finished out the 2015-2016 season with a 56-50 victory over the Beaver Beavers in the third place game Saturday afternoon at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
Dropping to the consolation bracket following a loss to Summit Academy Friday night, the Spartans ended the season strong holding a lead for the majority of the contest. Falling behind for a brief moment in the first half, Emery used an 11-2 run to take complete control in the eventual win.
Koby Butler led the way once again scoring a team best 23 points to go along with eight rebounds. Both Bryce Dugmore and Zac Jorgensen finished with nine and Bowdie Jacobson scored eight in the season ending victory.
Beaver proved to be a game opponent as they battled back from a double-digit deficit multiple times throughout the game. Senior Matt Roberts kept his team within striking distance as he finished with 17 points, including five makes from the behind the arc. Brennon Hutchings scored 14 points and Brantson Blackburn ended with nine.
The season held plenty of highs for Emery, including their second consecutive Region 15 championship. Ending the league portion of the schedule 9-1, the team finished 21-3 overall for the season.
