The Emery Spartans boys cross country team logged a second place finish at the Region 15 Championship Tuesday afternoon in San Juan.
Competing against six other schools the Spartans logged four top 10 finishes and added a 12th place score to record 43 points. Richfield claimed the Region championship with 36 points, also recording four top 10 individual scores. Grand, Manti and North Sanpete completed the top five, while San Juan and South Sevier finished sixth and seventh.
Emery senior Tanyon Allred notched the highest individual finish for the Spartans with a time of 17:51.67, good enough for fifth place. Chase Christiansen ended seventh overall, while Bryar Meccariello and McKay Meccariello completed the top ten. Ty Funk rounded out the fifth and final score for the Spartans, coming in 12th overall.
The second place nod allows Emery to continue the season on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The team will join the Carbon Dinos and other competing 3A schools at the State Championship at Sugarhouse in Salt Lake City.
