USU Eastern Press Release:

PRICE, UTAH – Utah State Eastern women’s soccer picked up a huge win on Friday after defeating the Salt Lake Community College Bruins 1-0 in overtime in Taylorsville.

Last month the Eagles lost twice to the Bruins by a combined score of 7-0 at home.

This time around at SLCC the Eagles were able to hold off the Bruins scoring according to USU Eastern Head Coach Ammon Bennett.

“They played a good game, not a great game but a good enough game to keep the other team out of the goal,” said Bennett.

Both teams couldn’t get any shots to go in regulation and the game went to overtime.

Five minutes into overtime sophomore Taryn Pritchett was able to get a pass to sophomore Rachel
Neff who set up another pass to freshman Morgan Hall who put the ball in the net for the game winner.

Sophomore keeper Shyann Jones was in net for the Eagles and made crucial saves for her team according to Bennett.

“She probably kept us in the game by herself, she probably made 15-20 saves including four or five that were epic saves for us,” said Bennett.

With the upset over SLCC the Eagles now have an overall record of 9-6-1 with a 4-5 record in conference play.

Next up for the Eagles is a home match against Snow College on Thursday at 3 p.m. Last month the Eagles lost two games against Snow with both of the being in Ephraim.
