PRICE, UTAH – Utah State Eastern men’s soccer lost to the Salt Lake Community College Bruins 2-1 on Friday in Taylorsville.

In the first half the Bruins got on the board midway through with a goal from Raul Sanchez.

The scoring continued for the Bruins in the first half when they scored again eight minutes later to go up 2-0.

Just before halftime the Eagles would cut the lead thanks to a goal by freshman Frank DeBry.

The goal against SLCC gives DeBry him a team-high seven goals on the season.

Unfortunately for USU Eastern and Head Coach Ammon Bennett, they couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net for the rest of the game.

“We played an okay game but we are not dynamic enough to get the equalizer,” said Bennett.

Sophomore Austin Munoz was in goal for the Eagles and had another strong performance against SLCC according to Coach Bennett.

“Austin Munoz played a great game for us, he made some great saves for us,” Bennett said.

With Friday’s results, the Eagles picked up their first loss to Salt Lake this season after winning both games against them last month at home.

The Eagles will now have a almost a week to prepare for their next game on Thursday against Snow College. Last month the Eagles won and lost to the Badgers in Ephraim.

Their record now sits at 7-7-2 overall with a 5-4 record in conference.
