The Emery Spartans continued to impress in the early portion of the swim season by dominating the second home meet of the season Tuesday afternoon at the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale.
On the boy’s side of the pool the Spartans accumulated 375 points, easily topping second place Grand’s total of 278. North Sanpete finished in third with 130 points, followed by South Sevier’s fourth place performance.
The Emery Lady Spartans also ran away with a big win by scoring 402 points, compared to Grand’s 161. North Sanpete ended in third with 92 points, followed by South Sevier’s 87.
As a team the boy’s recorded five wins on the afternoon, including one win in the 200 yard medley relay. Deegan Minchey, Keldan Guymon, Asher Beagley and Parker Stilson finished the the race with a time 1:55.92. Grand finished right behind in second with a time of 2:01.02
Guymon delivered a stellar performance taking home first place in both the 50 and 100 yard fly. Minchey also recorded a top finish in the 200 yard IM, beating teammate and second place finisher Stilson with a time of 2:26.62. The fourth individual win went to Jonathan Seely in the 100 yard breaststroke as he finished in 1:21.22.
On the girl’s side of the pool the Lady Spartans recorded eight first place finishes, including three in relays. Alexis Johansen, Angellena Migliori, Kaelee Hooley and Briane Bass claimed first place in the 200 yard medley with a time of 2:14.77. The four girls also won the 400 yard relay, defeating Grand by over 30 seconds with a finish of 4:25.96.
The third relay victory came in the 200 yard free as Jocee Funk, Haley Guymon, Alejandra Garcia and Sydney Terwilleger ended with a time of 2:05.25.
Individually Bass recorded wins in the 200 and 500 yard free. Johansen also scored a victory in the 50 yard free.
Harmony Willson claimed first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:31.62. Sydney Terwillegar grabbed first place in the 100 yard backstroke by recording a time of 1:16.79.
After a busy start to the new season the swim team will take the rest of the week off before returning to the pool on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Once again the team will play host to a meet ahead of the lengthy Thanksgiving break.
