The Carbon Dinos continued the swimming season with a dynamic performance on the road in Moab Tuesday afternoon.
Seven first place finishes propelled the Lady Dinos past competition as the team accumulated 362 points. Grand finished in second with 195 points, followed by Millard and Gunnison.
On the boy’s side of the pool the Dinos recorded one first place finish and 214 points, placing them third in the field of four. Grand eased their way to a victory with 322 points, compared to 254 for second place Millard. Gunnison again finished fourth.
The Lady Dinos opened the meet with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay as Megan Swasey, Nicole Swasey, Sofia Crompton and Shannon Baker finished in 2:11.03. The win in the first event set the stage for a brilliant overall outing by the girls squad.
Crompton later joined Emily Jespersen, Ashlin Baker and Kacee Barrett in the 200 yard freestyle for another first place showing. Baker, Jespersen, Barrett and Megan Swasey closed out the meet with a win in the 400 yard freestyle.
Individually Jespersen claimed first place in the 200 yard IM, ending with a time of 2:57.33. Nicole Swasey topped teammate Shannon Baker in the the 500 yard freestyle. Swasey added one more first place nod in the 100 yard breaststroke.
On the boy’s side of the pool Tyson Swasey delivered the lone first place performance, topping the field in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 55.92.
The Carbon will now take a lengthy nine day break for Thanksgiving. The team will next travel to Orem on Nov. 30 against Timpanogos, Maple Mountain, Maeser.
