The Christmas spirit is definitely on the minds of students and faculty at Castle Heights Elementary since returning from the Thanksgiving break.  Each year the school sets up an Angel Tree in the lobby and opens up Santa’s Workshop for their students to do their annual Christmas shopping.

“Our student government runs the Angel Tree at Castle Heights. I know a lot of people know what the Angel Tree is but for us it’s an opportunity to try and give back to some of the students, who we know at our school that are going to be struggling this Christmas,” stated Principal Chris Winfree. “We try to go through and identify five or six families within the school, who are in need, we don’t actually just focus on the kids at our school because if they have younger siblings, if they have older siblings, we want to make sure that they’re having their needs met as well.” The tags can be found on the Christmas tree located in the school’s lobby and will list the age, gender and item that is needed for that particular child. The wrapped gifts with the attached tag will need to be returned to the school and put under the tree.

Every year the PTA sets up a Santa’s Workshop where students can do their holiday shopping for family and friends. A variety of items will be available for purchase at an affordable price to accommodate the students. The workshop will open it’s doors before and after school beginning December 13 through December 15.
