Unable to find consistency on offense the Emery Spartans were dealt their first loss of the region season by the South Sevier Rams 81-53 Friday night at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

The Rams wasted little time developing an advantage, outscoring Emery 24-10 in the opening quarter. South Sevier continued to shoot the ball well for the remainder of the first half, creating a comfortable 44-25 lead by the end of the second quarter.

Despite the first half struggles the Spartans managed to play nearly even with the Rams over the final two quarters.

Cade Brazier scored a team best 16 points to lead the Spartans in the loss. Easton Gordon also reached double figures with 13, while Brax Jensen scored nine.

All five South Sevier starters finished with ten or more points, including Brodee Tebbs, who scored a game-high 21. Easton Hunt contributed 19, and Kaetz King chipped in with 17 as the Rams improved to 2-0 in Region 15 play.

Friday’s loss dips Emery to 1-1 in region action and 7-4 overall. The Spartans will have an opportunity to get back on the winning track with a home game Wednesday night against North Sanpete.
