The Carbon Lady Dinos created chaos at the top of the Region 14 standings with a 62-53 win over the Union Cougars in the final home contest of the season Tuesday night.
Needing a win to potentially force a three-way-tie at the top of the division, Carbon outscored the Cougars by eight in the final two quarters. Holding just a one point lead at half time, the game turned with a 17-11 Carbon run in the third.
Jodi Noyes posted a game best 15 points, to go along with nine rebounds to lead the Lady Dinos to a victory. Kelsey Sorenson just missed a triple-double, finishing with 14 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.
Carbon’s steady and balanced offensive production delivered four double-digit scorers as both Abbie Saccomanno and Makenna Blanc scored ten points. As a team the Lady Dinos converted 20 field goals, totaling 11 assists in the process.
Reagan Anderson and Kennedy Ross paced the Cougars with ten points a piece in the setback. Carly Blake, Ellison Weaver and Tori Ross all contributed nine points. Union struggled from the charity stripe finishing hitting on just nine of 22 attempts.
With Tuesday’s victory now in the books, the Lady Dinos can finish in a tie for first place with a win over American Leadership Academy on Thursday. Carbon stomped ALA in the first meeting 72-19 back on Jan. 16.
A Carbon win coupled with a Juab victory over Delta on Thursday would mean a three-way-tie at the top of the division. Carbon, Union and Juab all split the season series with one another, meaning a coin flip would determine the final placing for playoff seeds.
