Despite a career best 29-points from Ryan Gagon, the Carbon Dinos dropped the regular season finale 51-46 to the American Leadership Eagles Friday evening in Price.

Looking for a win to solidify the region’s No. 4 seed, the Dinos were outscored 30-23 over the final two quarters in the eventual loss. Friday’s defeat was the second in as many attempts against ALA this season, the first was a four point setback on Jan. 17.

Friday’s loss placed Carbon in a tie with Juab for fourth place in Region 14. The Dinos lost the coin-flip tiebreaker, meaning they will enter the State Championship Tournament as the No. 5 seed.

A total of 16 teams will make up the 3A State Championship bracket, with the first taking place Saturday in Heber. The Dinos will meet the Grand Red Devils, the No. 2 seed from Region 15, with a trip to St. George for the final three days of the season on the line.
