Three Carbon High School senior student-athletes have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2017-18 winter season with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.

Mikelle Monson and Gracie Steele are two of ten drill team athletes to record a qualifying 4.000 grade-point-average. Carbon’s drill team finished sixth at the state competition earlier this month.

Shannon Baker was one of ten swimmers to earn the academic honor with a cumulative 3.977 GPA. Baker was also a member of the Cross Country Academic All-State Team this past fall, joining nine others with a 3.998 GPA.

The UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award for close to three decades. Individuals are selected for the award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency.
