In a contest where neither team recorded a run until the sixth inning, the Carbon Dinos found itself on the wrong end of a 4-0 pitcher’s dual to 5A Springville Tuesday afternoon in the season opener in Price.

A combination of six pitchers worked on the hill for the Dinos in the season opener. Springville scored all four of their runs in the final two innings, registering five hits and four earned runs off of Triton Abeyta and Nathan Richens.

Offensively the Dinos failed to develop consistency in the plate, logging just two hits throughout the game. Cody Lowe finished 1-3 at the plate recording a double for the team’s lone extra base hit. Collin Lewis ended 1-3 with a single.

Carbon will take the next two days off before returning to the field on Thursday at the Pizza Hut Classic in St. George. Thursday the team will meet both Dixie and Payson. The squad will return Friday to go toe-to-toe with Judge.
